Educating Students to Make Better Choices.
According to the CDC in 2019 over 70,000 deaths have occurred from drug overdoses. In 2020 it is estimated that over 90,000 drug overdose deaths have occurred, that's an increase of 29.4%. From April of 2020 to April of 2021 Illinois had 3,521 reported overdose deaths.
According to the National Safety Council the chances of dying from accidental opioid death is higher than a car accident. "Fatal overdoses among adolescents nearly doubled from 492 in 2019 to 954 in 2020, an increase of 94% (NPR, Freidman)."
